09.24.2008 - FFAF VS ATTICUS - LIVE SHOW AND NEW POLO SHIRT! |
Funeral will be playing a very special one-off free show with Atticus on Wednesday 1 October at the Old Blue Last in London. Supporting will be Ghost Of A Thousand and Young Guns. The band are playing the show to celebrate the launch of a co-branded Funeral/Atticus polo shirt which will be available at the EBTM online store soon - we'll send you a link when it's up. More importantly the show - gig entry is free but here's the catch - invites will only be sent to the bands MySpace, Facebook and Bebo friends and posted on the bands iLike page later this week. So you've got to be in it to win it. We will randomly select 70 replies across the board from those who get their replies in first (or in the case of iLike who post on the fan wall) and those lucky people will have their names added to the guest list on the door. There will be no +1s, so one entry per person. If you want to be in with a chance of getting into this ace gig make sure you're a member of one or all of the above official groups/pages and watch out for an announcement in the coming days Did I mention that this will be the band's first ever show with Gav? Thought not See you there Love FFAF HQ |

09.18.2008 - FLICKR |
Hey, Remember we used to update our Flickr account all the time? That was awesome wasn't it? Remember when we stopped uploading to Flickr? Yeah that was awful. Basically we stopped doing it because the phones we were using to upload to Flickr and Funeraltube became deactivated because we left Atlantic Records and guess who was paying for these phones? Atlantic Records. Oh well. Anyway, dry your eyes-we've sorted it out. We've uploaded a bunch of recent-ish stuff to Flickr for you to enjoy. We'll also be adding some more 'sets' like "Classic FFAF" and "FFAF meet the Stars"! Wahey! And, from hereon in we'll be uploading pics as often as we used to while on tour so you can see what we're up to. For now though, check out our Flickr @ www.flickr.com/photos/funeralforafriend. Enjoy FFAF |

09.04.2008 - FUNERAL VS GAV BURROUGH |
4 September 2008 Hi there everyone It's with sadness that we announce Gareth Davies has left Funeral for a Friend. As some of you may know, Gareth has been living in America for the past couple of years, and recently got married. Ultimately, the strain of travelling between continents has taken it's toll and Gareth made the decision that it would be in the best interests of himself, his family and Funeral to leave the band. We totally respect and understand his choice, wish him all the best in his future and we thank him for being part of our lives for the past 6 years. We'll miss him. We'd like to take this opportunity therefore to welcome Gavin Burrough (Ghostlines/Hondo Maclean/The Future) to the family. Gav is a super-tall, super-talented dude whom we've all known a long time and we're sure you're gonna love him as much as we do. Weird fact - Gav was born on the same day as Gareth. AND both their names begin with a G. Crazy stuff. Look forward to seeing you on tour. Love Funeral For A Friend 2.0 |

05.27.2008 - FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND FORCED TO CANCEL EUROPEAN FESTIVAL APPEARANCES IN JUNE |
It is with great regret that Funeral For A Friend have been forced to cancel a run of European festival shows scheduled for June. The band are mid way through recording work on their first album for Join Us Records, their own label, in Cardiff. Technical problems that have appeared only after the recording process had started have necessitated a change of studio and simultaneously therefore an increased workload in a shorter space of time on both band and producer. The result is that the band are forced against their wishes to withdraw from the festivals. 'We are all excited about heading back to mainland Europe,’ says frontman Matt Davies. 'Sadly we are faced with no choice but to change our original plans for the upcoming festivals due to the changes in our recording schedule so we can make sure that this album is finished on time and sounding amazing.’ Bassist Gareth Davies adds: 'We had been looking forward to playing these festivals at the very end of recording as the perfect way to introduce some new tunes alongside the old ones. But because of the technical problems we've had we now have no choice but to work through the month and twice as hard to get everything finished to schedule. Being your own boss sounds easy but it actually makes you that much more focussed and more determined to succeed. There is no-one else to blame if things go wrong. The bottom line is if we don't meet the deadlines we are under we won't get the record out this year.' 'As much as we hate letting people down, doing those shows would mean us not being able to release this album until next year,' reinforces drummer/vocalist Ryan Richards. 'Unfortunately these things happen, but we are in the process of finalising a full run of European dates around the release of the album at the end of the year which we'll be announcing soon. Sincerest apologies to anyone who bought tickets to see us but we'll be making it up to you before the year is out.' The affected shows are: Fri 13 Jun: Interlaken, CH – Greenfield festival Sun 15 Jun: Nickelsdorf, AUS – Nova Rock Mon 16 Jun: Milan, IT – Rock The Week Wed 18 Jun: Bologna, IT – Rock The Week Funeral For A Friends as yet untitled 4th album will be released later this year. |

04.08.2008 - DEBUT UK HEADLINE TOUR 2008 |
FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND are proud to announce their first UK headline shows of 2008. The band - who have begun work on writing and recording the follow up to their last album 'Tales Don't Tell Themselves' - have chosen to hit the road straight from those sessions in a series of in-your-face gigs. "We're really excited for these shows", says frontman Matthew Davies-Kreye. "It's small and intimate and it's gonna be great fun. We've been itching to play some live shows since the last tour and with the new record on the horizon it'll be cool to maybe pummel through a new song or two." "The tour's going to be a lot of fun," adds Ryan Richards. "We specifically chose the Newport, Glasgow and Manchester venues because we've had some of our best shows and memories at those places and we chose Kings College after watching a vintage AC/DC performance on the telly from that venue and fancying a crack at playing there ourselves. Gives us a good excuse to play some new tunes as well for the first time - as well as a few golden oldies of course." Support on the shows will be new 20:20/Sony signing IN CASE OF FIRE (www.myspace.com/incaseoffireuk) and each show will be opened by an act specifically chosen by the band. The full list of shows is as follows: JUNE Mon 30 – MANCHESTER, Academy 3 # JULY Tue 1 – GLASGOW, King Tuts ~ Wed 2 – LONDON, King’s College @ Thu 3 Fri 4 – NEWPORT, TJ’s * Opening acts: # New Device (www.myspace.com/newdevice) ~ Twin Atlantic (www.myspace.com/twinatlantic) @ Cry For Silence (www.myspace.com/cryforsilence) * Dignity Dies First (www.myspace.com/dignitydiesfirst) All shows are 14+. Tickets are available from www.gigsandtours.com or www.gigsinscotland.com for Glasgow and all onsale from 9am Friday 11 April. Full booking info including phone numbers to call is available on the live pages. See you there. Love FFAF HQ |

03.23.2008 - SOUTH AMERICAN TOUR CANCELLED |
It is with great regret that we have been forced to announce the cancellation of our South American tour. Circumstances entirely outside of our control have conspired against us to force the cancellation against our wishes. Essential things that needed to be put in place by our friends working with us in South America in order for the tour to happen have simply not materialised and it is now physically impossible for the tour to proceed. We had hoped that given the hard work that we have put in to make the shows a success, our first visits to Brazil, Mexico and Chile would proceed without a hitch but this time we are very sad to say it's not to be. We will retire to our rehearsal room and use the time to write some more killer tunes to play for you when we are hopefully able to return. We apologise to all our fans who have bought tickets and in the absence of better advice from local promoters would suggest that you return to your point of purchase for further information. Thanks from the bottom of our hearts for your continued support. Love FFAF ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A postscript from FFAF management. As a final word on this issue and particularly for all of those fans who have taken the time to comment on this announcement on the bands MySpace page please see the translated statement below which we have just received from the promoter responsible for the shows the band were due to play in South America. I hope it goes some way to addressing any concerns you may have had in private or expressed in public about the reasons behind the cancellation - and furthermore that the issue can now be put to bed. Thanks for your support and we look forward to seeing you on the road in 2008. << Casa da Música, by it’s boars, comes trough this reinteract itself about the last note publicized, where an expression error occurred about the canceling of Funeral For a Friend’s South American tour. Casa da Música takes all of the responsibility and blame for the errors that might have occurred and that occasioned the canceling of the concerts in South America. The band was rehearsed along with all of the crew, who was ready for all the shows and for the shooting of the video clip in Brasil. Due to a break at the financial chain in South America, unfortunately we weren’t able to carry out with your obligations in time. We’d like to leave our sincere apologies to all of the fans, local promoters and press that waited for this tour, and that the band will be studying a better opportunity to come and play in South America as soon as they can. The return of the tickets can be made from this Monday, 31st, in all local sale spots. Sincerely, Silvio Palmeira Casa da Musica >> |
